When we see a fat person walking we feel that the person is obese. But this term obese is relative. It differs from people to people. For example doctors may term it differently and yet dictionary will have its different meaning altogether. The basic dictionary definition of obesity explains that it describes someone who is overweight. There are further explanations in other dictionaries that add that the weight has been accumulated because a person has eaten too much fat. However one may also find synonyms for the same as well. Obesity may also find its synonym with corpulent or fleshiness. The definition of obesity is simple in many dictionaries of the English language. However definition of obesity may vary with the purposes.

There is now a surgical procedure that staples or bands the patient’s stomach so they cannot eat too much. The surgeons that do this operation often demand that the person is morbidly obese. This procedure is risky so only those with great problems with obesity take the risk and undergo these kind of an operation. The definition for morbidly obese for the purposes of this surgery is usually one hundred pounds over weight. Many of the people that undergo this surgery are more than one hundred pounds overweight.

The Definition of Obesity Depends on the Context

There are organizations and several experts who are very keen on the exact definition of obesity. Then they’re these Medical professionals who also join the same bandwagon who want an exact definition so that they can base their research on it. However there are experts who believe that the definition of obesity depends on the lifestyle of the patient. The patients often end up obese because they eat too much food and do not exercise enough to burn off the excess calories.

Some organizations provide tables of heights and weights and show the desirable combination of those two factors. There is a relatively new figure that is called body mass index (BMI). There is a calculation provided to figure the BMI and if the BMI of the person is more than 30, the person is said to be obese. The definition of obesity is often a term used in these tables. These guidelines are used to inform people and medical professionals about acceptable weights for people. Obesity is a condition that is not beneficial to any human being. These definitions and statistics should help people decide on healthy goals for their weight.

Causes of obesity:

These teenagers are at considerable risk of becoming obese adults. As children unhealthy eating habits and poor food choices were main reasons contributing to children obesity. Also lack of Exercise has been a leading cause of child obesity. These children in turn grow into in obese adults. Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. This is due to the fact that these growing adolescents have started working at an early age. Business lunches, convenient take always, kiddie’s fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

Diseases Caused Due to obesity:

Diseases such as Type two diabetes, Blood pressure, nerve damage and even blindness are all caused due to obesity. The first step towards preventing obesity is that eating out correctly which simply means eating healthier foods.

Summary:

Thus if we follow the mantra of “Eating out healthy “then there will not be a room for obesity. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

When you see an obese person, you will know that they are obese, but the definition of obese is relative that is it differs for certain purposes .The dictionary meaning of obesity is simply being overweight. Obesity is determined through a formula of Body Mass Index (BMI). A person is said to be obese when his BMI is more than 30. When a person cannot strike a balance between the calories consumed and calories utilized in the form of physical activity then obesity occurs.

Harmful Effects of Obesity

Among adolescents it manifests itself as lowered self-esteem, lesser educational achievement, lower incidence of marriage, and also lower household incomes and finally, higher rates of poverty. Among Children it results in lesser educational achievement, lower self esteem thereby resulting into children moving towards anti social activities.

Causes of Obesity

Genetics and DNA is another cause of childhood obesity. Your parents can also aid in determining your chances of dealing with childhood obesity. If your parents had a problem with weight, chances are you will deal with the same issues. This makes it extremely important that you keep an eye on your children and their habits. DNA can not be changed, but small changes in other areas can make a great deal of difference in your child and their chances of dealing with childhood obesity. Walk to school, run and indulging into physical activities can be of great help in controlling children obesity.

Eating Habits

The eating pattern is the main cause of obesity. Today the concept of wholesome meal has vanished and has been replaced by fast food/ junk food. Today even children prefer more of pizzas, burgers, French fries as compared to salads and vegetables. Children today have a craving for sugary sweet ice creams as dessert and definitely do consider having a bowl full of frits as alternative. And because children learn there eating behaviors primarily from their parents, those with obese parents often turn into obese children. Parents can help their children in choosing better foods when they are young will ensure that they make the same choices as they continue to grow. It is extremely important to control child obesity otherwise these children will grow into obese adults. Healthy choices include fruits and vegetables instead of sugary snacks. Popular choices include carrot and celery sticks, apples, bananas and even salads that include a wide variety of vegetables

Lack of physical Activity:

Lack of Exercise is also another factor leading to obesity. Obesity occurs when there is an imbalance in calories consumed and calories utilized in physical activity. Thus it can also be said that when there is less of physical activity obesity occurs. Children who spend a lot of time watching television will have a greater risk of child obesity than those who go outside to play. Also people working in offices who do very little of physical activity are at a higher risk of being obese. This especially holds true when they are eating unhealthy food and their physical activity is also restricted. Even housewives who do not indulge into any other form of physical activity apart from doing household work also tend to be obese.

Other Factors:
There are several other factors that are beyond the control of the individual. There are also some conditions that might contribute to obesity such as problems with the thyroid gland. Some people have a difficult time dealing with stress so they use food as an option to deal with frustration.

Summary:
Thus, if people focus on eating healthy food then obesity will not be problem. When a person cannot strike a balance between the calories consumed and calories utilized in the form of physical activity then obesity occurs.

Obesity is a common problem in countries like America, India etc. In America one in every three person is classified as obese. Obesity is a condition where an adult person is not able to maintain a balance between his calories intake and energy expenditure. Thus the person is said to be in an obese condition.

Obesity is determined through a formula called Body mass Index (BMI). If BMI is more than 30, the person is said to be obese.

Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. Dining out with friends, convenient take always, kiddie’s fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is simply on a rise for this younger generation. Thus all these factors are mainly responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries like America but also in developing countries.

Fast Food and Restaurants:

For many youngsters and now days even for adult’s fast food is the way of life. Both, adults and youngsters survive only on fast food. Be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner these they will prefer ordering the food from outside, as it is convenient and tasty as well. Also fast food is readily available. Thus all this has resulted in obesity spreading out as an epidemic, which is hard to control. People are just ignorant about the fact that obesity is becoming the leading cause of preventable deaths. One need not be fat; but can prevent it by living a healthier life. Thus correct food choices and regular exercises can be of great aid. Dreadful and preventable diseases like Diabetes are also caused due to obesity.

Making Healthy Food Choices

The only action plan that can help in reducing the link between fast food and obesity in America is to cut back on this type of fast food diet. There has been a tremendous change in preparing food now days. The first and foremost responsibility of parents is to inculcate healthy eating habits right from infancy. They should help their children in selecting right kind of food that is not only tasty but also nutritive as well. Lots of fresh fruits, vegetables, soups, and salads can be introduces in the diet. Also parents should monitor the number of visits of their children to these fast food joints. Fast food is so famous amongst the younger generation, and filled with so many calories, the weight the diet like instead of having biscuits, cookies and French fries for snacks fresh fruits and vegetables can be introduced.

Also when thirsty aerated drinks can be substituted with plain water. Even while dining out these small changes can still be implemented such with appetizers, opt for non-fried items and share selections. Consider adding salads here. Similarly avoid high -fat dressings, creamy cheese and fried croutons. In case of main course dishes baked grilled, sautéed, boiled, poached or steamed items can be ordered.

Exercise is Imperative

Exercise and healthy food both go hand in hand to avoid obesity. Physical activity should be encouraged right from childhood. Children should be encouraged for playing games such as badminton, tennis, football, and swimming rather than playing computer games. And this is a regimen that adults too can follow.

Summary:

Thus “Eating Out Healthy ” and “Exercise ” are the best to prevent obesity. Obesity is a condition where an adult person is not able to maintain a balance between his calories intake and energy expenditure. Thus the person is said to be in an obese condition.

Obesity is a common problem in countries like America, India etc. Obesity is a condition where an adult person is not able to maintain a balance between his calories intake and energy expenditure. Thus the person is said to be in an obese condition. In America one out of every three is obese.

Obesity is determined through a formula called Body mass Index (BMI). If BMI is more than 30, the person is said to be obese.

Why Does Obesity Occur?

These youngsters are at considerable risk of becoming obese children and thereby obese adults. As children unhealthy eating patterns and poor food choices were main reasons responsible for childhood obesity. Also lack of Exercise has been a leading cause of child obesity. Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. . Business lunches, convenient and quick take always, fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is on an increase for this generation. Thus all these factors are very much responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

Thus with an increase in percentage of obese people, doctors, scientists and medical people are beginning to study the causes of obesity. After through study and research, both of them are in a dilemma as to whether fast food can cause obesity. But yes fast food causes obesity. So now Americans can no longer blame the genes for being obese. If these people do an introspection of their own self they will come to a correct conclusion for obesity. One will very soon realize that this fast food is the main culprit. The way these fast food outlets are advertising and the way their number is increasing is evident of the fact that we have been “Addicted ” to this kind of food.

Striking American with full Force:

With Americans being constantly barraged by pizzas and burgers advertising, and with candies and sweets stacked up near every checkout counter in every convenience store, it is indeed very natural that fast food obesity is striking Americans with full force. And, with the possibility of eating while filling gas at a gas station, the Fritos, Twinkies and Coke consumed will not reduce the harmful effects of fast food obesity in a hurry. Hoever with people giving in away to their temptation of fast food, self-help tools may be of little help. Thus in this race between obesity and being healthy, obesity is way ahead. All this resulting into diabetes types two, BP, heart diseases, etc.

Remedial Measures:

Need to dine out in such fast food joints must be curtailed. The fact that whether fast food causes obesity is frightening then one has to make sure to eat healthier foods As in vegetables, soups, salads, and fresh fruits. It des not mean that one has to avoid dining out altogether, but one has to make correct choices while dining out. These teens should learn to strike a balance while dining out. Thus if healthy heating habits are inculcated right from childhood, obesity can very well be controlled.

Summary:

The only action plan that can help in reducing the link between fast food and obesity in America is to cut back on this type of fast food diet. People should learn to strike a balance while dining out.

Obesity is a common problem in countries like America, India etc. In America obesity is a condition where an adult person is not able to maintain a balance between his calories intake and energy expenditure. Thus the person is said to be in an obese condition.

The fast food that we consume is full of calories, and unsaturated one is aware of, which leaves the appetite active even after the stomach has become physically full. In the end, we do not really know how many calories have been actually consumed.

Temptation Is Too Great

Fast food restaurants are tempting people to consume more calories than they intended by offering discounts such as “Buy One Get One Free”, reducing prices of their food items during slag seasons to boost up sales, offering gifts such as toys to children on ordering “Happy Meal”, Introducing Happy hours. These youngsters do not understand these kinds of marketing gimmicks and fall for it.

Observations reveal that those who dine out three or more times per week have gained weight by at least ten pounds. Further, there have been countless studies that prove that fast foods are of poor nutritional value that is quite shocking. All this further leads to type two diabetes and Blood pressure etc. But alas children fail to understand this. So now to save face, some fast food chains are beginning to serve up healthier foods such as salads, fruits, as well as bottled water, although this is the right step but unfortunately the response that it has received is not impressive.

One of the factors to consider when trying determining if fast food can cause obesity is other lifestyle choice that might affect the body weight. It has also been found in studies those slimmer teens that select fast food on occasions will balance the calories consumed by consuming fewer calories the rest of the day. But obese and overweight teens do not have the tendency to make those types of choices. Also families, who dined out regularly, would have the tendency to stock lesser amount of fresh vegetables, fruits, and salads. Also these families would probably have more storage of aerated drinks and fried foods.

Summary:

Fast food thus causes obesity and one has to make sure to eat healthier foods As in green leafy vegetables, soups, salads, and fresh fruits. It des not mean that one has to avoid dining out altogether, but one has to make correct choices while dining out.

Obesity is a common problem in countries like America, India etc. In America. Obesity is a condition where an adult person is not able to maintain a balance between his calories intake and energy expenditure. Thus the person is said to be in an obese condition.

Obesity is determined through a formula called Body mass Index (BMI). If BMI is more than 30, the person is said to be obese.

The Causes:

These teenagers are at considerable risk of becoming obese adults. As children unhealthy eating habits and poor food choices were main reasons contributing to children obesity. Also lack of Exercise has been a leading cause of child obesity. Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. . Business lunches, convenient take always, kiddie’s fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

Thus with an increase in percentage of obese people, doctors and scientists are beginning to study the causes of obesity. After through study and research, both doctors and scientists are in a dilemma as to whether fast food can cause obesity. Some of the facts seem to point clearly in this direction. For example, with an increase in obesity rates in the past decade, there is also an increase in the frequency in which many people choosing fast food as their main course. Also since past few decades Fast food chains have developed in every nook and corner of the area. Also the way, in which these people advertise in televisions and print media, targeting the children generally has given an evidence to rethink on this issue.

However +these studies have indeed highlighted the fact that families that dine out at least three or more times a week does run a higher risk of obesity and larger BMI’s. The BMI, or body mass index, is a formula with which doctors can determine exactly how overweight a person is. A BMI of 30 or more is an indication of obesity, and a number between 25 and 30 means the patient is overweight. As mentioned earlier that in America one in every three person is classified as obese. Thus these fingers do point that there is an urgent need to bring obesity under control.

Fast Food cans Cause Obesity in Some

Yes one of the factors to consider when trying determining if fast food can cause obesity is other lifestyle choice that might affect the body weight. It has also been found in studies those slender teens that choose fast food on occasions will balance the calories consumed by consuming fewer calories the rest of the day. But obese and overweight teens do not have the tendency to make those types of choices. Also families, who dined out regularly, would have the tendency to stock lesser amount of fresh vegetables, fruits, and salads. Also these families would probably have more storage of aerated drinks and fried stuff.

Summary:

Thus the fact that whether fast food causes obesity is frightening then one has to make sure to eat healthier foods As in vegetables, soups, salads, and fresh fruits. It des not mean that one has to avoid dining out altogether, but one has to make correct choices while dining out. These teens should learn to strike a balance while dining out. Thus if healthy heating habits are inculcated right from childhood, obesity can very well be controlled.

Causes of obesity

These teenagers are at considerable risk of becoming obese adults. As children unhealthy eating habits and poor food choices were main reasons contributing to children obesity. Also lack of Exercise has been a leading cause of child obesity. Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. . Business lunches, convenient take always, kiddie’s fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

Fast Food and Obesity:

For many youngsters fat food is the way of life. These teenagers and adolescents survive only on fast food. Be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner these adolescents will prefer ordering the food from outside, as it is convenient and tasty as well. Their breakfast consists of sausage and biscuit plus an order of hash brown potatoes. The fast food biscuit is usually loaded with margarine, or even worse, lard. The amount of trans fat alone is enough to cause arterial damage. Lunch might consist of a ¼ pound bacon cheeseburger, an order of fries, and a drink. And if all these special food is ordered in a “Super Size” then the amount of calories consumed in a single day will easily cross 1600 Kcal. Thus this is more than sufficient for many people.

Apart from this fast food is harmful due to low fiber content. A Fast food meal consists of low quality carbohydrates, high levels of saturated fat, white bread, and a sugary soda. All this is exactly opposite of what a healthy meal should contain. Experts on fast food and obesity say there is now an alarming rate of cardiovascular disease and diabetes in the United States. These numbers have continued to rise at an alarming rate during the past few years.

Research has shown that if these young adults have fast food at least 3-4 times a week then the chances of obesity increases by 50%. The fact is fast food not only tastes good but also is convenient, cheap and readily available. Plus the fast food contains high levels of sodium, oil, refined sugar, and refined flour. All these are detrimental to our health.

Fast Food And Obesity - The Risk For Diabetes

Fast foods are directly related to Type 2 diabetes. Fast food leads to obesity and obesity means overweigh, that results into diabetes. Thus fast food is the main culprit. The high carbohydrate content of fast food puts an added strain on the body’s ability to produce insulin. With this continued strain the body loses the ability to produce the amount of insulin needed to deal with the high sugar levels produced after a meal.

Summary:

The moral is that fast food and obesity go hand in hand. So in order to avoid obesity and thereby diabetes, it is extremely essential to follow a healthy diet. This includes having salads, vegetables, plenty of juices etc. apart from this the level of physical activity should also be increased. Thus obesity then would not be a major problem to deal with.

Obesity Causes

These teenagers are at considerable risk of becoming obese adults. As children unhealthy eating habits and poor food choices were main reasons contributing to children obesity. Also lack of Exercise has been a leading cause of child obesity. Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. . Business lunches, convenient take always, kiddie’s fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.

Fast Food and Restaurants:

For many youngsters fat food is the way of life. These teenagers and adolescents survive only on fast food. Be it for breakfast, lunch or dinner these adolescents will prefer ordering the food from outside, as it is convenient and tasty as well. Also fast food is easily available. Research shows that if these young adults continue to have fast food meals twice to thrice in a week then the chances of obesity will increase by 50%. This is an alarming statistic for a nation with such a high incidence of obesity and a fast food chain on nearly every corner. The food that is consumed from fast food restaurants is loaded with fat and calories, not to mention sodium, oil, and sugar. And if all these special food is ordered in a “Super Size” then the amount of calories consumed in a single day will easily cross 1600 Kcal. Thus this is more than sufficient for many people. Studies have also shown that families that eat fast food more often are also less likely to keep healthy foods like fresh fruits and vegetables in the house so as to offset some of the negative effects of the burgers and fries.

A pretty frightening fact is that there is 20%loss of life expectancy due to obesity. Young adolescents are aware of the ingredients that go into the making of these fast food items, but yet are so tempted to consume it that they do not think twice before going for it. At times these adolescents do think that can fast food result in obesity? But yes one of the factors to consider when trying determining if fast food can cause obesity is other lifestyle choice that might affect the body weight. It has also been found in studies those slender teens that choose fast food on occasions will balance the calories consumed by consuming fewer calories the rest of the day. But obese and overweight teens do not have the tendency to make those types of choices.

How do we diminish the Link between Fast Food and Obesity in America?

The only action plan that can help in reducing the link between fast food and obesity in America is to cut back on this type of fast food diet. Fast food does not have to be avoided altogether and at all costs - it just needs to be considered. These teens should learn to strike a balance while dining out.

Summary:

Thus if healthy heating habits are inculcated right from childhood, obesity can very well be controlled. It has also been found in studies those slender teens that choose fast food on occasions will balance the calories consumed by consuming fewer calories the rest of the day. But obese and overweight teens do not have the tendency to make those types of choices.
