The Definition of Obesity Is not set in Stone

When we see a fat person walking we feel that the person is obese. But this term obese is relative. It differs from people to people. For example doctors may term it differently and yet dictionary will have its different meaning altogether. The basic dictionary definition of obesity explains that it describes someone who is overweight. There are further explanations in other dictionaries that add that the weight has been accumulated because a person has eaten too much fat. However one may also find synonyms for the same as well. Obesity may also find its synonym with corpulent or fleshiness. The definition of obesity is simple in many dictionaries of the English language. However definition of obesity may vary with the purposes.
There is now a surgical procedure that staples or bands the patient’s stomach so they cannot eat too much. The surgeons that do this operation often demand that the person is morbidly obese. This procedure is risky so only those with great problems with obesity take the risk and undergo these kind of an operation. The definition for morbidly obese for the purposes of this surgery is usually one hundred pounds over weight. Many of the people that undergo this surgery are more than one hundred pounds overweight.
The Definition of Obesity Depends on the Context
There are organizations and several experts who are very keen on the exact definition of obesity. Then they’re these Medical professionals who also join the same bandwagon who want an exact definition so that they can base their research on it. However there are experts who believe that the definition of obesity depends on the lifestyle of the patient. The patients often end up obese because they eat too much food and do not exercise enough to burn off the excess calories.
Some organizations provide tables of heights and weights and show the desirable combination of those two factors. There is a relatively new figure that is called body mass index (BMI). There is a calculation provided to figure the BMI and if the BMI of the person is more than 30, the person is said to be obese. The definition of obesity is often a term used in these tables. These guidelines are used to inform people and medical professionals about acceptable weights for people. Obesity is a condition that is not beneficial to any human being. These definitions and statistics should help people decide on healthy goals for their weight.
Causes of obesity:
These teenagers are at considerable risk of becoming obese adults. As children unhealthy eating habits and poor food choices were main reasons contributing to children obesity. Also lack of Exercise has been a leading cause of child obesity. These children in turn grow into in obese adults. Since a few years there is a considerable increase in the percentage of obesity in adults. This is due to the fact that these growing adolescents have started working at an early age. Business lunches, convenient take always, kiddie’s fast food treats, family meals. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.
Diseases Caused Due to obesity:
Diseases such as Type two diabetes, Blood pressure, nerve damage and even blindness are all caused due to obesity. The first step towards preventing obesity is that eating out correctly which simply means eating healthier foods.
Summary:
Thus if we follow the mantra of “Eating out healthy “then there will not be a room for obesity. Eating out is on a rise for this generation. Thus all these factors are largely responsible for adolescent obesity not only in developed countries but also in developing countries.
